Things To Do

You really are spoilt for choice for things to do and see in the Tees Valley.

Lose yourself in the stories of the region in Tees Valley’s museums and at historic sites. Be entertained at the area’s theatres and arts venues. Get your adrenalin pumping with exhilarating outdoor activities on the river and at sea.

Explore walking and cycling routes across stunning countryside and coast or spoil yourself at some of Tees Valley’s luxury spas.

Looking for adventure?

The River Tees – which flows at the heart of the Tees Valley – is the perfect setting for those seeking a thrill. The river transforms from an exhilarating Olympic standard white water rafting course to the incredible home of harems of seals to a water sports haven where you can try your hand at jet skiing, paddleboarding and power boating. You can even take in the spectacular views of the river from a height as you bungee jump from the iconic Transporter Bridge!

The exhilarating experiences don’t stop with the river.

You can try surfing the waves at one of the Tees Valley’s sandy beaches, mountain biking through stunning countryside or rally driving on one of the white-knuckle courses.

Entertain the family at one of the many attractions Tees Valley has to offer, from climbing aboard the oldest warship still afloat in Europe HMS Trincomolee to the biggest high ropes course in the UK – Air Trail or head to The Hullabaloo – the only dedicated children’s theatre north of London.

Looking to explore the Tees Valley at a slower pace?

Why not try sailing or rowing on a tranquil spot of the Tees or explore the beautiful landscape by foot with a variety of walking routes. Relax at one of the region’s luxury spas or enjoy a round of golf. When the sun goes down there is still plenty to do with fine dining, relaxed eateries and cocktail bars on offer to help you end the day in style.

A weekend simply isn’t long enough to enjoy everything that the Tees Valley has to offer so you’ll have to come back again…and again!
