About
A winter walkabout is coming to Redcar along the High Street and Esplanade.
Renowned Ice sculptors Sand in Your Eye will be delivering amazing ice sculptures along Redcar High Street and Esplanade, so why not collect your ice trail sheet, (either print your own or pick one up from one of our event stewards around on the day) to check off the activity. Once complete enter the special competition and follow this handy guide to discover ice creations in the design of a snowflake, a snowman, a nutcracker, Santa, and a reindeer!! Those that complete this frosty walk will also receive a small prize.
The Ice Trail can be downloaded here.
Not only can you revel in the amazing sight of these exciting ice sculptures, but you will be able to experience a live ice carve and see these talented artists at work. There will also be an ice workshop where the elves can help you write your letter to Santa and post them in the ice post box!!
And if that isn’t enough enjoyment throughout the day, there will be an array of festive performances.
Welcome back Piff Paff with Ray & Flash, who are returning as the Disco Moth Electricians after an amazing response last year.
The Winter Wonderland Birds will also be there, these magical giant birds with their stunning fanned tails are illuminated for a winter wonderland spectacular. Watch as their colours change according to the bird’s mood.
The Jacks of Frost stilt walkers are a frosty pair, but only to look at! These shivering siblings are always up to mischief so be sure to say hello to this twinkly twosome.
The Hare and The Moon is a gentle and warm-hearted interactive walkabout show. Inspired by the mythology of the gazing hare and moon, wrapped in her star cloth cloak will be encouraging you to seek out Hare, who is adventurous, and prone to getting lost.
The Print Phone box can be found along the Ice Trail, Two Tin Cans will be popping up so come along to make a print in a phone box!
Redcar and Cleveland’s very own fire and ice queens will be there to greet you. Adorned in beautiful costumes, these magnificent characters can be seen throughout the day.
And last but certainly not least the enchanted stilt walking Frost Fairies will be meeting and greeting throughout the day.
This day of frost and ice is sure to warm your hearts and fill you with an abundance of Christmas spirit.
