On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August Mish Mash Festival will return to Darlington market square for a weekend long mega music marathon with a mish mash of genres, packed with enough performances to transform the market square into the darlo dancefloor of dreams.
Programmed by Tracks in partnership with Darlington Borough Council the event is Darlington’s own mini Glastonbury in the market square!
There will be creative workshops, musical themed crafts from BIGLittleGigs, food & drinks galore, and entry’s free.
Bring the friends and family, grab a seat on the deckchair dancefloor (if you’re quick!), and have yourself a wild and wonderful weekend.
Headlining the Saturday are the Leeds based Shades Collective celebrating dance music classics with a full live band and orchestral twist. Playing House, Garage, Jungle & D&B anthems. There will also be hip hop from Darlington’s Shakk opening the festival, Mathias Skye bringing his own blend of RnB, Hip-Hop and acoustic sounds, beautiful jazzy summer vibes from Newcastle’s Frankie Jobling plus indie 80s influenced dream pop from Club Paradise.
Sunday at Mish Mash Festival focuses more on world music styles staying true to Mish Mash Festival’s roots of bringing the world to Darlington. Headliners are the epic Baghdaddies who’s exuberant and rampant brand of world music is an exhilarating cocktail of Balkan melodies, ska and latin grooves and sizzling brass played with furious energy and theatrical humour. They take themselves incredibly seriously so you don’t have to.
Also gracing Sunday’s stage are Darlington favourites Blind Panic Ceilidh Band, make sure you’re ready for a dance, The Belta Rievers playing Geordie folk songs, summer trad jazz from Sunnyside Jazz and Bluegrass brilliance from The Often Heard.
The perfect soundtrack to a fun, music filled, family weekend.
