Hilarity Bites The Hipp

HILARITY BITES THE HIPP returns in November as Darlington Hippodrome partners up with Hilarity Bites Comedy Club for a night of top-class stand-up.

Topping the bill at the show is TV favourite REGINALD D. HUNTER. Known for his searingly honest observations both onstage and on TV and Radio that have garnered him a cross-generational fan base, Reg has become one of the comedy industry’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on the most diverse range of subjects. His TV appearances have included Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You? He also filmed two series of the BBC2’s hugely popular Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South & Reginald D Hunter’s Songs of The Border, documenting Reginald’s epic road trip through 150 years of American popular song.

Joining Reg is IVAN BRACKENBURY, the hapless hospital radio DJ creation of Tom Binns, the star and co-writer of the BBC 1 Friday Night Comedy Series Hospital People. Ivan has appeared in dictionary corner on Cats Does Countdown, and has been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award, Trident Comedy Award and Perth International Fringe Comedy Award (twice). He was voted a ‘Fosters Comedy God’, he’s won Best International Act at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe (twice), Nottingham International Comedy Festival, and has won 3 Sony Gold Awards.

Also appearing will be the wonderful NINA GILLIGAN, who has been going from strength-to-strength since wining the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year award in 2021. In that same year she was also named the winner of the Liverpool Hot Water Comedian of the Year competition, and she has recently supported Jason Manford and Clinton Baptiste on their UK tours.

Host for the evening is Live at the Apollo star BRENNAN REECE, who has recently been seen supporting Joe Lycett on his huge UK arena tour. Brennan is a multi award winning working class wordsmith (Edinburgh Best Newcomer Nominee and English Comedian Of The Year Winner). A stand-up, a storyteller and self confessed mummy’s boy. His boyish cheeks recently cropped up on Survival Of The Fittest (ITV), The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), and racking up over 6 million YouTube hits for his stint on Top Gear (BBC).
