Magical Creatures with Animal Story

Animal Story and their magical creatures will be visiting our libraries this half term. Come along and meet Niffler the hedgehog, Fudge the skunk and more magical and mythical creatures. Learn all about their favourite foods and activities. Guaranteed to be fun, educational and entertaining. There will also be a chance to hold or stroke some of the creatures if you wish! Suitable for all ages.

Expedition to Ancient Egypt with Stockton Central Library

Join us as we travel back to a time of Pharaohs and Pyramids. Look into the life of a Pharaoh, see your name in hieroglyphics, build a pyramid and even prepare a mummy! All this and more including a coding adventure and a VR Pyramid roller-coaster ride. It’s an adventure you don’t want to miss!

Life as a Pharaoh

Ever wanted to rule over your own kingdom? Find out how the Pharaohs did it in day one of our Expedition to Ancient Egypt. Create the tools of the trade, your very own headdress and collar and find out more about the land and the people of Egypt.

Write like an Egyptian

Vulture. Leg. Cup. Write like an Egyptian! With your very own laser cut wooden Cartouche, which you will paint and decorate with your name in hieroglyphics!

Build a Pyramid

Wednesday 23 February, 2.30 – 4.30pm at Stockton Central Library

How did they build the Pyramids? We will never know for sure but we will be building our own today. Paint the bricks to create the Pharaohs journey through the afterlife then join us afterwards for a fun Coding Adventure around Egypt.

Prepare the Pyramid

Thursday 24 February, 2.30 – 4.30pm at Stockton Central Library

Find out about the treasures hidden inside the pyramids! Make a Canopic Jar, used by the ancient Egyptians during the mumification process and then create a god-like mask similar to those worn by the embalmers preparing the body.

Make a Mummy

Friday 25 February, 2.30 – 4.30pm at Stockton Central Library

On day 5 of our ‘Expedition to Ancient Egypt’ we will be making a Mummy and painting the iconic Ankh. Who wants to help prepare the Pharaohs body? We’ll be taking out the organs and wrapping them up and replacing them into their sarcophagus!

Exploring the Pyramid

Saturday 26 February, 11am – 2.30pm at Stockton Central Library

How would our pyramids look 5000 years after they were built? Let’s take a look! Jump on a roller-coaster ride around the pyramids with our Virtual Reality Headset in our grand finale and one final Coding trip. Suitable for ages 13+
