About

Base Camp is delighted to host this exhilerating and vital new play exploring the connection between football and national identity.
Touring the UK this spring, we have two performances on Thurs 3 & Fri 4 March.
ENG-ER-LAND blends storytelling, dance and music with 90s nostalgia and tackles themes of racism, identity, politics, lad culture and working class masculinity. Written by Hannah Kumari in the wake of 2020’s BLM protests, it follows her own personal experience of racism as a football fan and her stuggles to be accepted into a historically white, male, working class world.
As thrilling an hour of drama as on the pitch itself! #UTB #engerlandplay
Supported by The Football Supporters’ Association and with public funding from Arts Council England.
Written and performed by Hannah Kumari
Directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair
Produced by Alistair Wilkinson for WoLab
