About

Join Halifax-based writer and historian Angela Clare, as she discusses her work sharing Anne Lister’s story in both fiction and non-fiction.

Her novel, The Moss House, was published in 2019 and tells the story of neighbouring landowners Anne Lister and Ann Walker and how their lives became entwined in a passionate, forbidden relationship. Angela will discuss where truth meets fiction about Anne Lister – lesbian, diarist, landowner, scholar, traveller and mountaineer, and how she adapted the true story into a novel, written under the pen name Clara Barley. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
