Hop Over to a Museum
Immerse yourself in the tale of Peter Rabbit at The World of Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail, which will be at Kirkleatham Museum for a limited time only. Walk (or hop) in the steps of Peter Rabbit while you’re there, crawl under the garden gate, hide in a watering can and even see your reflection in a mirror pool, just like in the books!
Get your detective hat on and head over to The Dorman Roost at Dorman Museum. Journey round the museum solving puzzles and following clues through the winding corridors with feathered detectives and costumed characters… Can you crack the case? Also, don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the giant eggs dotted around Middlesbrough town centre!
Hop over to Preston Park Museum for a variety of fun-filled activities! If you’re an animal lover you’re bound to love the museum’s Farmyard Flyer, which is taking place throughout the Easter Weekend. This pop-up farm provides the perfect day out – meet the alpacas, say hello to ducks and hens and go to see the cutest guinea pigs and rabbits!
While at the museum’s under-fives club let your pre-schooler do what they enjoy the most, getting messy! Get creative and enjoy messy crafts, before winding down for story time every Friday throughout the holidays. Don’t forget to check out its annual Eggshibition during your visit, which features more than one thousand beautifully decorated eggs created by local communities.
Head to Hartlepool to visit the National Museum of the Royal Navy’s brand-new Horrible Histories exhibition, which starts on 9 April. Follow a bossy pirate parrot and his ratty shipmate on a hilarious journey as you discover wicked weapons, terrible tactics and prisoner punishment used by Blackbeard himself. Lively illustrations, foul facts and gruesome games bring the stories of putrid pirates to life – so fans of the books, stage shows and TV series will know what to expect!
