About
This watersport — otherwise known as SUP — is rocketing in popularity across the world. So, give it a go yourself at Tees Barrage!
WHAT IS STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING?
This watersport comes from Hawaii and is a lot like surfing. All you have to do is stand or kneel on your board and use a single paddle to propel yourself through the water. But don’t think this isn’t an exciting watersport. Stand-up paddleboarding demands good balance and careful paddle strokes to make sure you don’t fall. So, staying dry isn’t guaranteed, but have a laugh is!
WHY STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING?
SUP is a growing trend for a reason. Firstly, stand-up paddleboarding is great entertainment, easy to pick up, and very accessible for all ages and abilities. This means you can do it for a laugh with pals, as a team-building exercise with workmates, or simply as a fun day out with the kids. The activity also boosts your core and upper body strength while giving you a cardio workout, so it’s excellent for all-round fitness, too! Gliding on water at your own pace is an amazing experience and exactly what you get with stand-up paddleboarding. Plus, all the equipment and facilities you need to ensure it’s a fun, hassle-free watersport. Just take a towel and change of clothes.
