Portrack Marsh is a haven for wildlife in the heart of Teesside. The wetland nature reserve attracts hundreds of birds each year and it provides a home to an exciting variety of mammals, amphibians, insects and wildflowers.
The summer months are filled with wildflowers, butterflies and dragonflies and the marshlands provide an exciting playground to explore the abundance of wildlife on offer. We have included a video to give you an idea of what to expect but the best way to explore is to head off the beaten track and create your own adventure. Paths merge back with the river bank so you can enjoy a stroll back to the Barrage to look for seals and ducks on the river.
