A community hub located in Darlington’s Central Library on Crown Street in the centre of the market town. There two entrances at the front of the building and an accessible lift at the Priestgate end of the building, which takes you straight into the main lending library.

The Lending Library, which has a stock of hardback and paperback fiction books, from bestsellers through to the classics; non-fiction titles to read for pleasure, for information or to help with your studies. If you have a visual impairment, or if you like to listen whilst driving, there is a large collection of books on CD available for loan. If you want to brush up on your language skills, there is a variety of language courses available for hire, in a range of European and Asian languages.
The Word is a separate area for younger readers, from babies right through to teenagers. ‘Saturday Story’ and craft sessions take place in here, as well as weekly ‘Baby rhymetime’ sessions.
