Surfing

You don’t have to travel to exotic shores to experience the thrill of surfing. Saltburn is world-renowned for its excellent surfing facilities and people flock from around the country to experience the breathtaking power of the North Sea waves. After you have dried off you can treat yourself to some award-winning fish and chips and enjoy the spectacular views of the North East coast!

Paddleboarding

What started as a must-do activity amongst Hollywood A-listers is now a popular sport for people of all ages around the world. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is ideal for those looking to experience a gentler version of surfing, and what better place to try for the first time than the Tees Valley!

SUP is a form of surfing which requires you to use one long single ended paddle to glide you through water whilst standing up right (but falling off is all part of the fun!). Give it a go at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre, Hartlepool Marina or head to Saltburn Surf School where experienced instructors will get you boarding like the pros in no time.
